To help prepare for the upcoming Blade Runner 2049, Warner Bros will release an enhanced version of Blade Runner: The Final Cut in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on 5 September. This final cut was director Ridley Scott’s preferred version of Blade Runner. Not to be confused with the two previous Director’s cuts, one released without his approval by the studio and a second he did approve of later – or the US, international and working print releases that came before them.
This version features High Dynamic Range (HDR) with a wider color spectrum as long as you have an 4K Ultra HD TV with HDR and an equally equipped Blu-ray player. The soundtrack has been remixed in Dolby Atmos for a home theater environment.
Since Blade Runner was released in 1982, TV and sound technology have advanced considerably, so it’s the prefect time to experience this science fiction classic in the best possible way.
The four-disc set includes a great deal of bonus material, all of which has already been released with previous versions. The extras that appear on the bonus disks are detailed below.
